What to Wear on a Sunset Cruise: A Complete Guide

Concierge Team · May 8, 2026 · 5min read

A sunset cruise covers two climates: bright tropical afternoon and breezy ocean evening. Dressing for both, without changing, is an art.

The unbreakable rule: layers. A linen shirt, a light cashmere sweater or pashmina, and one good cotton dress or trousers will see you through any sunset cruise we offer.

For her: Flowy linen dresses in neutral tones photograph beautifully against the navy sea. Avoid white — it picks up engine smudges. Champagne, sand, terracotta, deep navy all work.

For him: Linen shirt rolled at the sleeves, light chinos or shorts (knee length flatters more than mid-thigh on a boat), boat shoes or barefoot. Avoid white shorts.

Footwear: Bring deck-friendly shoes — flat soles, no heels. Most guests go barefoot once aboard.

Accessories: Polarized sunglasses, a wide-brim hat (with a strap — wind is real), reef-safe sunscreen.

And one more thing: leave the heels in the hotel. They don't survive the gangway, and you won't want them on the flybridge anyway.
